Marianne has spent most of her adult life working as an executive in the aerospace industry. Marianne experienced the unthinkable and most horrific death of her youngest son Eric James. As she struggled to find peace and acceptance, she redirected her coaching practice to Grief Coaching, receiving certification in the Grief Recovery Method. She is the Founder and Executive Director of EricsHouse, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing emotional, spiritual, and physical support to families living in the aftermath of alcohol, drugs, or suicide losses. She also leads retreats for a Catholic Ministry, Emmaus for Grieving Parents, welcoming grieving parents from all faiths on their spiritual journeys after the loss of their precious children of any age by any cause, no matter how long ago. She is the President and Founder of Insightful-Living, a coaching practice devoted to helping others work through loss and complicated life transition so that they may once again experience joy and happiness in their lives. Outside of her professional life, Marianne has personally experienced a number of life transitions encompassing career, business, loss of a sibling, loss of a child, loss of parents, a divorce, a Downs Syndrome child, a Downs Syndrome sister, and is a cancer survivor as well.
Patty Kincaid has a passion for EricsHouse and been supporting the mission since its inception. To the Chairman role, she brings 30 years of hands-on business experience and an unerring instinct for creating a productive environment for transformation as the mission of EricsHouse is put into practice. Her goal as Chairman is to use her knowledge and coaching experience to help all counselors, providers and supporters of EricsHouse serve our clients and loss survivors.
As a loss survivor, Patty shares her experience. “The traumatic death of a loved one is a life-changing event like no other. At EricsHouse we strive to create an environment that will protect hearts, comfort grief and create a road map through to the rest of your life.”
Patty is an Associated Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coach Federation (ICF) and has a current coaching practice. She has spent her career working with businesses across the country to improve their leadership, business processes and bottom line. Her background includes professional sales trainer, media consultant, marketing specialist and is currently the VP/GM for Media Staffing Network, a national executive talent acquisition and recruitment firm serving the media industry.
As a stay-at-home mother of three grown children and a wife of 33 years, Jean is now dedicating her time and energy to the service of others. Raised in the Roman Catholic Church, Jean ventured out to study all the world’s religions determined to find the commonalities among them. A natural progression led to the study of A Course in Miracles, Richard Rohr, and many other non-traditional spiritual outlets. Jean graduated from a one year study in Eastern Meditation from the Self Realization Fellowship and has found a spiritual home at The Franciscan Renewal Center in Paradise Valley. Currently, Jean is a Spiritual Director, a student of Healing Touch, and the less-significant part of an Animal Therapy team.
Robert was Eric’s older brother. He was admitted to the Arizona State Bar in 2013 and the California State Bar ins 2015. Robert is also admitted in Federal Court in the District of Arizona and has being awarded the distinction of being in the Nations Top 1% of Attorneys awarded by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel.
Robert’s primary focus in criminal defense is DUI and allegation of driving while impaired. Robert believes a vigorous defense is essential to protecting all citizens’ rights and upholding the traditions embodied by the Bill of Rights. Robert was born in Arizona and attended Arizona State University and Brophy College Preparatory where he was regional champion and captain of the wrestling team.
Karen Janusz is an out-of-the-box thinker and solutions-driven business owner who has a heart for individuals and families suffering from the trauma and stress of losing a loved one to suicide. Having experienced the loss of her niece’s husband to suicide, she has felt and seen the devastating effects on the immediate family, friends, and community. Leaving a wife, a thirteen-year-old son from another marriage, a five-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son, left my niece Melissa and her family in a tail-spin. From being blamed by the victim’s family members to feeling guilty to depressed, through numerous counseling sessions- with God’s help and grace and immediate family support, Melissa is positively moving forward in her life. Still grieving her loss, but with God’s help and grace… she and her family are healing.
Karen understands the emotional and cumulative impact suicide has on loved ones. Spiritually directed and highly intuitive, Karen connects with individuals at a very deep emotional and spiritual level and can lead them gently through growth and expansion after loss as a Certified Aroma Freedom Practitioner. She understands the intricate balance of mind-body-and spirit and is dedicated and passionate about helping people achieve physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being. Karen assists people on their journey through cognitive, mental, and emotional reprogramming using the Aroma Freedom Sessions to help them regain purpose, passion, and meaning in their lives.
As a Certified Holistic Health Coach, Certified Nutritionist, Certified Aroma Freedom Practitioner, Certified Aromatherapist, Certified Brain Fitness Facilitator, Certified Reiki Practitioner, and Labyrinth Facilitator, Karen has helped hundreds of clients move forward in their lives physically, mentally and emotionally. She has supervised and managed Personal Trainers, Fitness Instructors, Tai Chi Instructors, and Yoga Instructors. Karen was involved in the day-to-day management of several Fitness Centers in the Phoenix area including, European Health Spa, International Health Spas, Body Express Studio, and the Boulders Resort and Spa Fitness Center. In addition to her management responsibilities, Karen personally trained individual clients, provided nutritional counseling and coaching sessions, presented workshops and lectures on nutritional health, wellness, and brain fitness. She also taught fitness and yoga classes and led Labyrinth meditations.
Karen brings her leadership skills and executive presence to Eric’s House as the Director of Holistic Health Services to provide oversight and excellence in the therapies being provided to Eric’s House clients. Each holistic therapist that is invited to participate as a provider at Eric’s House is required to go through an extensive screening and interview process, provide current Certifications and/or Licenses for their practice, current CPR/AED Certifications and Liability Insurance to ensure the highest standards possible in the industry. Each therapist has a unique perspective and gift to assist our clients with their healing and recovery.
Our main goal and priority is to insure compassionate, professional therapies to individuals and families grieving and suffering from trauma due to the loss of a loved one to suicide either self-inflicted or accidental. Our menu of holistic services is continually expanding to serve a broader population and to reach individuals who are suffering emotionally from this type of loss and may have lost direction in their lives.
As a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Dr. Kathleen integrates her foundation as a Nurse Practitioner with numerous methods of healing such as Reiki, Meditation, Gong, Breathing Techniques training, Functional Nutrition, Visceral-neuro manipulation, Sat Nam Rasayan, Kundalini Yoga, Some of these modalities are discussed in group workshops and some are individual treatments. Kathy has a special interest in developing and supporting programs that help people heal from trauma and grief.
Mari Marquez is the Director of Administration and Board Secretary at EricsHouse. Mari experienced the devastation of losing her father, her husband, and had a miscarriage all within four months apart, right after leaving her corporate career of many years. Before her horrific losses, Mari worked in the Property and Casualty Insurance Sector. She has an MBA with an Emphasis in Leadership and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychology with an Emphasis in Performance Psychology. Mari is on the Widow Advocacy Team with the Modern Widows Club and is a member of the National Alliance for Grieving Children. Mari is also one of the facilitators for the Women’s Support Group at EricsHouse.
Eric has been practicing law since 2006 after graduating from St. Louis University School of Law. Prior to law school, Eric earned his Bachelor’s degree in accounting, summa cum laude, and Master of Accountancy from Truman State University. He passed the CPA exam in 2002 earning the Bronze Medal Award for the third-highest score in the State of Missouri. Eric is a partner at the law firm of Husch Blackwell LLP where he specializes in estate planning for high-net-worth individuals and families. He concentrates his practice on estate and tax planning, probate and trust administration, business succession planning, and lifetime gift planning. Eric enjoys working closely with clients and helping them design and implement estate plans that will accomplish their goals. Eric has served as the chairperson of the Private Wealth Group at his firm since 2015. In his spare time, Eric enjoys spending time with his wife, Nicki, and their three children.
Eric is uniquely qualified to join the EricsHouse Board of Directors and brings his expertise for establishing an ethical, financially sound base on which to grow. He is committed to strategically positioning EricsHouse on a path for future success.
Judy Zimet is a graduate of Mercer University and Phoenix School of Law (magna cum laude). In addition to her Arizona license to practice law, she is a licensed real estate agent. Judy worked for a tier-one litigation law firm in Wyoming, and a downtown Phoenix estate planning firm before opening her own practice. Judy has negotiated real estate deals for over 20 years, created business agreements for state and national companies, and drafted hundreds of customized death and disability planning documents. She is Lead Counsel Rated in real estate, business, and estate planning law, and serves on the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Advisory Board.
Judy is an intentional attorney. Most attorneys go from undergrad to law school without first understanding the world outside of school, or their place in it. Judy owned a forensic construction consulting firm, partnered with a real estate investor, became a widow, and then established a nonprofit before she attended law school. Her desire to become a more effective advocate for her clients was borne out of real life experiences.
Judy encourages her clients to remember charitable giving in their plans. Judy supports The Animal Legal Defense Fund (aldf.org) and nonprofit organizations in her community.
