Understanding Your Grief: Substance Loss Support Group for Mothers Who Have Lost a Child

August 3, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Pre-registration is required. Please email [email protected] to see if this is the right group for you!

If you have lost a child to alcohol or drugs, you are most likely struggling with complex grief that surrounds losing someone to substance abuse. You might be feeling shame, guilt and anger. The shock and isolation can be extremely challenging. Learning from others and sharing your story are integral parts of your healing process.  EricsHouse support groups are here to enable you to talk about your grief, the stigma surrounding these losses, and to learn from other people who are experiencing the same losses.

We kindly invite you to join our group. It is a small group that includes other substance loss survivors who are working through a complicated set of emotions. Our groups provide a safe, intimate place to speak about your feelings and honor your loved one who passed.

This group is facilitated by Charlotte Schwarz.

About Charlotte: Charlotte has participated in and organized several other support groups for EricsHouse. She was born in New Orleans. She moved to Arizona in 2002. Her family includes her husband, Jeff, two sons, a daughter, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and three grandsons. They have three members with the disease of alcoholism and addiction. Two members are recovering.  Sadly, her oldest son lost his battle with addiction in 2016. Charlotte is leading the support group as a Grief Companion! She wants to honor Brady by helping others going through the trauma of addiction-related loss. Charlotte is able to share her experiences while providing hope, strength, and compassion to help loss survivors heal.

This group is limited to 12 people. It will run for 9 weeks beginning on Tuesday, August 3rd. Sessions will be held VIRTUALLY on a bi-weekly basis from 5:30 pm MST.

Need 1: Acknowledging the reality of death.

Need 2: Embracing the pain of loss.

Need 3: Remembering the person who died.

Need 4: Developing a new self-identity.

Need 5: Searching for meaning.

Need 6: Receiving ongoing support from others.

There is a $45.00 charge for this group. Scholarships are available.  If you have participated in previous groups and have the book “Understanding your Grief” by Dr. Alan Wolfelt, please use the following code when registering “HEARTFUL”
