Virtual Grief Support Group for Bereaved Adults of Sibling Suicide or Substance Use Loss (THIS GROUP IS FULL)

January 22 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

This group is full. Please contact Madison at [email protected] to inquire about future groups.

Finding Your Way Through The Wilderness of Grief Group

Losing a sibling to suicide or substance use is heartbreaking. Siblings share unique bonds that begin early on in life. This group is designed to support siblings grieving the loss of a sibling. It it recommended members be 4 to 5 months out from their loss before joining this group. Adults who lost a sibling are often called “the Forgotten Mourners.” Emotional complexities along with the relationships and grief of other family members can sometimes overshadow the grief of siblings. This group provides support so siblings have a safe space to share their feelings in response to loss.

Sessions will allow members to:

  • Share without judgment
  • Connect with other loss survivors
  • Learn more about grief including the 6 Needs Mourning and the 10 Touchstones by Dr. Alan Wolfelt Ph.D.
  • Ideas on how to integrate the loss into their life

Session Dates: Jan 22, Feb 5, 19, March 4, 18, April 1, 15, 29, May 13, 27

Meeting time: 4pm PST, 5pm MST/AZ time, 6pm CST, 7pm EST

This group is facilitated by Madison Shirley and Greg Eckerman.

Meetings will be virtual. We will follow The Wilderness of Grief – Finding Your Way by Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph. D. Participants receive a copy of the book and a journal in the mail. This support group meets every other Monday from 5 to 6:30pm AZ time via Zoom. Sessions begin on January 22 and end on May 27.
