Outreach & Prevention

SUICIDE AFFECTS PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE.  ONE IN EVERY 6 AMERICANS IS TOUCHED BY SUICIDE.  SUICIDE TAKES MORE LIVES THAN WAR, MURDER, AND NATURAL DISASTERS COMBINED AND IT IS ON THE RISE.    WE MUST TAKE ACTION.

As part of EricsHouse, our outreach and prevention efforts will focus on bringing together educators, clinical professionals, and survivors who have lost a loved one to any cause involving self-harm.  We will target middle school and high school students by providing podcasts, presentations, life coaching, and counseling for students at risk, for students affected by loss, and for the general population of students as a way to foment awareness of the dangers of self-harm.

EricsHouse will also work with medical professionals to conduct research to better understand the relationship between substance abuse and suicide.  Statistics show that many individuals who have completed suicide have also struggled with substance abuse such as alcohol, prescription medicine abuse, illicit drugs.  There is little data to correlate the causes of 1)  substance abuse, 2) mental illness, and 3)  suicide. Our interests lie in understanding current medications as traditional treatments, but also to research new forms of treatment involving brain science, neuroplasticity, and neurotransmitter recovery therapy (NRT).
